The Grumpy Monkey Paisley: a Q&A with Lynsay McWilliams
We caught up with Lynsay McWilliams from one of Paisley’s most popular coffee houses for a quick Q&A on The Grumpy Monkey…
When did The Grumpy Monkey first open its doors and how long have you been working here?
The shop opened in March 2020 and I have been working here ever since.
What is the best part about working in the hospitality sector?
Definitely the people. I love some of the relationships you can form with your customers plus I meet new people every day.
When you are not working, where do you go for coffee, lunch or dinner?
I have two young children so I don’t get the opportunity to eat out as much as I’d like to. I do love Trattoria Roma in Johnstone though, the food is delish!
What is your favourite food?
I do love a good, homemade chicken pie.
If a celebrity came to you looking for a job, who would you like it to be and why?!
Ant and Dec! Great fun and who doesn’t love them?!
What do you like best about working in Renfrewshire?
Local shops and great community spirit.
What do you think about the growing food and drink scene in the region?
I think it is great to see so many private owners and small businesses doing so well.
What is the most popular food at The Grumpy Monkey?
Our homemade soups are so popular, especially our soup and half sandwich combo. Our toasted club sandwich is another great seller.
For people who have never been to The Grumpy Monkey, what can they expect?
Good homemade food. Delicious homemaking and friendly service. And maybe you’ll even hear a wee sing song from me! Lol!
What is your signature dish?
At the moment we have been making quesadillas and our customers are loving them!
What should everybody try when they visit The Grumpy Monkey?
Our chicken chorizo panini.
Do you cater for people with food allergies?
Yes we have dairy-free milks available and gluten-free options.
What’s your favourite event in Paisley?
I’m a huge Christmas fan so the Paisley Winterfest was my ultimate by far! I love seeing the town busy and such a great atmosphere.
