August Clearing Days at West College Scotland
Make 2021 your year and invest in your future with a course at one of Scotland’s biggest educational institutions.
West College Scotland which has three main campuses in Clydebank, Paisley and Greenock, has a huge range of courses starting in August – and they still have places available!
As well as offering higher and further education for students aged 16 and over, the community college is here to help people learn new skills, retrain and develop existing knowledge as we look to the post-Covid world.
As the workplace has changed dramatically since the start of the pandemic a year ago, West College Scotland has options to suit those who are looking to change careers and boost their employment prospects.
It boasts great relationships with local businesses, with the majority of courses taught to provide a way into the world of work. This partnership working means students are more likely to find employment after gaining qualifications.
The college has over 23,000 students and 1,200 staff, and the team there are looking forward to reopening its campuses later this year.
“We offer a huge range of courses, full-time, part-time, evening and online learning, which are all designed to help our students get a job, keep a job or get a better job – and that’s more important than ever before,” says Stephanie Graham, Vice Principal for Educational Leadership
“With so many people affected by the economic impacts of the coronavirus pandemic, now is the time to consider what skills you need, whether that’s improving on what you already know or trying something completely new.
“The scale of West College Scotland means we can provide greater choice to students, better facilities and enhanced services, so sign up now to make 2021 your year.”
A new £1.6m facility for performing arts on the Paisley campus, set to be named in the new term, will offer students and staff a creative hub for a modern teaching and learning environment.
Stephanie adds: “Our campuses are thriving hubs of activity and we’re looking forward to being able to get back to some level of normal from August onwards for the new college year.”
Whether it’s a business-based course, creative courses with an eye on the digital future, like social media, or learning about cyber-security for a vocation, courses are tailored towards the needs of employers to help students to find employment.
As the hub of the local community, the college prides itself on its connection with local businesses, as well as the extensive support offered to students – with student advisors on hand at all times.
The great employer links also lend themselves to a series of apprenticeships: the college is a significant provider of Foundation, Modern and Pre-Apprenticeships, working with a wide range of employers in various sectors.
