Mill Town Music Festival comes to Paisley Town Hall
The first annual Mill Town Music Festival is primed to bring the best of country and Americana to our very own Paisley Town Hall on 31st August
In recent years, country music has undergone something of a resurgence. After being overlooked by many people or minimised to a niche concern, the talents of singers such as Andrew Combs, Zach Bryan, Kacey Musgraves and others making their way into the mainstream has meant that more people of all demographics are gravitating towards the genre than any time in recent memory.
Plus, with so much of the music you hear today feeling like it was made by committee, the value of a great piece of songwriting has never been higher.
Having overseen one of the most renowned country and Americana festivals in the country for years, Cumbrae Promotions’ Gavin and Christine Chittick have now decided to utilise their unwavering passion for the music and make Paisley a destination for fans from far and wide. Although they live in London now, Gavin is from the town himself, while Christine originally hails from nearby Barrhead. With this in mind, it seemed like a foregone conclusion that when it came time to launch a new event, Renfrewshire would play host.
“When we decided that it was no longer feasible to run the kind of festival we wanted to in Millport, we kept our eyes open for alternatives on the mainland and were delighted when Paisley Town Hall re-opened following its extensive refurbishment,” they said of Mill Town’s inception. “For us, this is the ideal opportunity to ‘square the circle’, return home and bring some terrific country and Americana artists with us.”
Set to feature acts from overseas and nearby, the evening will be headlined by the immensely popular Flatland Cavalry, while the acoustic stage will be led by Kaitlin Butts.
Elsewhere, Kristin Bush of Sugarland will bring a whole host of star power, while local artists such as Robyn Red, Raintown and Paisley-born Jill Jackson will bring their own incredible catalogues to the proceedings.
The Mill Town Music Festival takes place at Paisley Town Hall on Saturday 31st August from 4:30pm, tickets and info here.
