The Village Kitchen & Pantry lunch review

on 3 July 2025 0

Robert and Paul head to the picturesque village of Bridge of Weir for a stellar lunch at The Village Kitchen & Pantry

For years now, locals from across Renfrewshire have been venturing into the tranquil surrounds of Bridge of Weir when they want a taste of the relaxed atmosphere that those who live there day in, day out are accustomed to.

Among the biggest draws of the area is its restaurants and delicatessens, a small but consistently excellent cadre which The Village Kitchen & Pantry has seamlessly slotted into.

Run by a staple of its food and drink scene in Bunty, this latest venture prides itself on providing locally sourced food prepared by hand and freshly made to order.

As the name suggests, it’s a multi-faceted venture, neatly navigating the two different businesses that are encompassed under its roof.

Alongside the shelves stacked with a whole array of delicacies ranging from gourmet pasta to any number of sauces, salsa and everything in between, the assortment of indoor and outdoor seating allows you access to a whole array of lunch options to consume in its vibrant yet understated atmosphere.

From the outset, Paul and I are bowled over with the spread that’s put in front of us. From a beautifully constructed Caprese salad and olives with a green pesto dip to Paul’s gluten-free Mexican wrap, the cumulative taste is one which gives you the impression that the ingredients have been plucked from acres of produce growing outside.

This is a testament to the suppliers they use, ranging from local favourites such as Pure Roasters coffee and the lovely three sisters bake to HLD Fruit and Veg of Bellshill and Freedom Bakery.

As Paul tucks into his wrap and an accompanying tuna salad, I make short work of an incredible four cheese toastie, composed of a medley of mozzarella, Emmental and a mature and regular cheddar. Then, there’s the matter of a hearty red lentil and veg soup which is not only bursting with nutrients but flavours that are abundant and wonderfully pronounced.

However, the fun doesn’t stop there as Paul can’t see past the gluten free cannolis imported from Sicily. On this occasion, he opts for the lemon and his only regret was that he wished he had two.

As for me, I tuck into a Rolo sprinkle cookie courtesy of Three Sisters Bake which serves as the perfect capstone on our visit.

With a menu that rotates seasonally, The Village Kitchen & Pantry is a real treat for those who savour the experience of good food at affordable prices. What more could you want?
