The Coffee Klub Renfrew lunch review by Robert Blair
Our core team of Robert and Paul head to The Coffee Klub in Renfrew to visit an underrated café serving up food that’s not to be missed
The phrase hidden gem is often overutilised, but it is certainly one that fits the bill when it comes to this little locale on Paisley Road.
Dating back to 2022, The Coffee Klub is led by soon-to-be married couple Roberto and Katie who have put their all into making this a friendly and inviting place for patrons of all ages. With walls adorned in various photos of old Renfrew that proudly remind you of where you are, the serene atmosphere they have established within its confines would have you forgetting that you’re on a main road.

Despite the connotations of its name, this eatery is much less of a café and more of a bistro. Courtesy of its expansive menu, you can find yourself indulging in any number of cuisines while the person across from you enjoys something entirely different yet just as tasty.
This was certainly the case for Paul and I, with our collective dishes providing a fusion of flavours and cultures that certainly left us satisfied.

In Paul’s case, he opted for a baked potato with beef, chilli and cheese. A dish that was elevated with the inclusion of garlic butter, Paul was delighted that it wasn’t a chilli in name only and actually had a discernible kick to it. Above all for Paul, it was entirely gluten free, something which they can do for many of the options on the menu. Suffice to say, it was devoured.

As for me, I was treated to a halloumi wrap alongside a tangy lentil soup. Augmented by chilli jam within the main dish and a salad that came topped with a delicious dressing, the soup provided a perfect boost of flavour as the wrap was naturally dunked into it on regular intervals.
To round things off, we were treated to cakes courtesy of the local Buon Giorno Bakery, a fond memory from Roberto’s own days at Trinity High.
In Paul’s case, he enjoyed a gluten-free cheesecake that was flavoured with light and fluffy tablet while I made short work of a deep and rich chocolate sponge that I savoured every mouthful of.

With not a morsel left from either of us, it’s easy to see the admiration and affection that locals have for Coffee Klub. Now opening on Thursday, Friday and Saturday with a whole array of great meals. On other occasions, they’ve also shown their culinary versatility with tapas nights, pasta and prosecco evenings and even Sunday roasts.
With all this in mind, Coffee Klub is somewhere that certainly merits your business and it’ll only take one trip for you to see why those who’ve been have nothing but praise for this local business.
