Anya Vincent: The Sound of Renfrewshire

on 23 December 2025 0

As she begins to make waves further afield, Mill shines a spotlight on Paisley-born artist Anya Vincent’s burgeoning journey into the industry

Over the years, Paisley has had an obscenely prosperous ratio when it comes to bringing talented singers, songwriters and musicians to the forefront of the music world.

From Paolo Nutini and Jill Jackson to Gerry Rafferty and Kelly Marie, there’s been a steady stream of talent which has impacted on a global scale. Yet for a long time, what’s been able to obtain traction has generally veered closer to the realms of folk and indie rock.

However, one woman who seems to have every intention of voyaging beyond the fringes and into the pantheon of pop is Anya Vincent. Hailing from the town, this young artist isn’t doing things by half measures and has already got esteemed individuals onboard.

When it came to unveiling her debut single Catfight, she enlisted the services of stateside producer Jordan Lawlor – best known for his work with French pop duo M83, Beck and Deftones among others – to help bring her vision to life.

As for the song itself, Anya’s debut is a formidable statement in which she exhibits her skill as both a singer and writer. An empowering anthem which calls to mind the sounds of contemporary pop yet with a singular flair, the song’s lyrical themes centre on learning from past mistakes in order to strive towards a better future that’s devoid of the pains of the past.

Amid everything that she wants to achieve on a personal level, Anya feels a responsibility to succeed in a way that’ll keep the town’s longstanding legacy of success alive.

“There are so many talented people in Paisley, a lot of culture and local talent” she revealed. “It shows you that it’s possible for you to have dreams and go for what you’re passionate about, because there’s people that live just down the road that have achieved it.”

Although there’s no news in regards to a new release, Anya insists this is “just the beginning” and based on such a strong start, it seems that she’s certainly right.
