In the evening as part of this Northern Soul and Motown Extravaganza on stage will be eight piece Soul band Republic of Soul from Glasgow. They are no stranger to Paisley and will be setting the venue ablaze with their fabulous repertoire of floor fillers.

And then, premiering for the first time anywhere in the UK, NCNUK proudly presents Club Soul – an Audio and Visual Northern Soul fest – with wall to wall NS classics from artists like; Al Wilson, Chairmen Of The Board Chuck, Edwin Starr, Freda Payne, Jackie Wilson and so much more. The Enforcers are at The Old Swan tonight from 7pm and in the ‘Shoppers’ Slot tomorrow from 4pm it is Gordon’s Alive followed by a DJ. If you are wondering why the legendary slot at 4pm at The Old Swan is called the ‘Shoppers Slot’. It came from an advert they posted years ago which said “Ladies. Drop off your husband here and we will look after him. Just give him some money for a few pints and pick him up after you are finished the shopping”

Things have changed since then and when I was in The Old Swan last week It looks like the women are the ones having a wee gin while waiting on the men finish the shopping. Clyde are back on Monday from 5pm with their mix of Trad, Rock and Pop and then on Tuesday Lee James will be performing his Swing Classic set at 3pm and he comes back on Tuesday at the same time to give an afternoon of songs through the decades.

The Keg has Highway Chile in tonight from 9pm and tomorrow night they have a live band session with Old Bohemia also at 9pm.
