EC Inspired Coaching: by sisters Emma and Cara Kennedy
Accompany Laura Young as she visits sibling duo Emma and Cara at EC Inspired Coaching, a team who have firmly planted their stamp on Renfrewshire’s fitness community
If you are looking for a workout space with personalised plans, flexible timetables, nutrition coaching and a welcoming atmosphere, EC Inspired Coaching should be firmly on your radar. Located in the heart of Paisley on Abercorn Street, it offers far more than the standard gym experience.
Step inside and it quickly becomes clear that EC Inspired Coaching operates more like a wellness centre than a traditional fitness space. Run by Paisley sisters Cara and Emma Kennedy, it has established itself as something distinctive within the world of personal training, with a clear focus on wellbeing, nutrition and lifestyle. Their programmes are carefully tailored to maximise each client’s potential, making a healthy lifestyle feel not only achievable, but sustainable.
Over the past six years, Emma and Cara have built a service grounded in a holistic and inclusive approach to health. From one-to-one personal training and boot camps to children’s summer clubs, their programme is wide-ranging, but consistently focused: helping people feel better, move more and build lasting habits.

Emma’s story shapes much of that ethos. A former competitive golfer, she performed alongside the best in her field before a series of operations on her heels and ankles forced her to relearn how to walk. It is an experience she describes as eye opening, and one that continues to inform her coaching. Having lived through both peak performance and recovery, she brings a level of understanding that is difficult to replicate. Her approach is rooted in adaptability, patience and personalisation. She meets clients where they are, and offers support that is customised to them.
That philosophy carries through the entire space, where the focus remains on consistency and steady progress rather than quick fixes or extremes. The group sessions demonstrate how a team with varying fitness levels can unite under a shared goal, evolving into a supportive community that consistently pushes one another.

This impact is more than just physical; it is deeply rooted in the camaraderie and relationships built between clients. Emma notes that she is incredibly proud of the strong bonds formed within these groups and the genuine encouragement members offer one another.
Cara brings an equally strong perspective. A lifelong gymnast and competitor at the 2022 Commonwealth Games she understands the discipline and commitment required to succeed at a high level. Like Emma, her focus is on inclusivity, helping others build habits that fit into everyday life. She applies her experience in a way that is accessible and encouraging, ensuring clients feel capable as well as challenged.

The success of the sisters is evident not only in their own achievements, but in the results of those they support. From weight-loss journeys to supporting young gymnasts through competitions and working with athletes as they develop their performance, the message remains consistent: simple nutritional choices, consistent exercise, and small, achievable goals form the foundation of lasting progress.
The business itself was born during the Covid-19 pandemic, when Emma began running free outdoor boot camps to keep people active. What started as a temporary response quickly evolved into something more substantial. As she adapted to her own recovery, she also expanded her expertise, working with individuals managing long-term conditions and injuries. That experience helped shape EC into the inclusive, adaptable space it is today.

That same ethos extends to the children’s sessions, which focus on strength, confidence, and health by introducing exercise and nutrition through engaging games and activities. As Cara explains, these sessions grew organically from conversations with parents looking for practical ways to keep their children active, and they have since developed into a valued part of the business that supports families while making fitness feel both manageable and fun.
Emma and Cara are passionate about continuing to widen the support they offer to the community by connecting with likeminded health and fitness professionals. They hope to collaborate with other wellness specialists to create a holistic network of care for their clients. They aim to broaden the expertise available at EC Inspired Coaching, ensuring that every individual receives well-rounded, expert guidance that addresses all aspects of their physical wellbeing.
EC Inspired Coaching offers a space built on experience, understanding and community. For those in Paisley looking for a fitness environment with a difference, this is a place well worth seeking out.
