Life Church Paisley: work underway on former Burton’s building

on 15 March 2026 0

Life Church Paisley give Mill Renfrewshire a tour of the old Burton Menswear building which will become their new home

On Friday 13 March 2026, we were kindly invited to visit the old Burton’s building in Paisley town centre, courtesy of Life Church and local architectural firm, Framed Estates Ltd. The Grade B Listed building has been in the hands of Life Church since 2023. The three-storey property most recently housed a lighting and interiors store called Lighthouse. So Life Church renamed the premises, The LightHouse Project.

The ground floor is set to become a café and a community space. The first floor will serve as the church area, while the top floor – a former ballroom with original parquet floor – will be renovated last, with its future use still undetermined.

As you can see, it’s a massive project to undertake and work will start on the flat roof soon, thanks to a substantial grant from Renfrewshire Council. Once the roof is complete, the renovation of the ground floor will begin prioritising the café and community space. As yet, there is no opening date, this will become clearer as work progresses.

Life Church, which was at the bottom of Moss Street, is currently based in the Paisley Centre. From here, aside from usual services, they also run Street Connect Paisley. A project that helps transform the lives of individuals struggling with addiction and associated issues such as homelessness and poor mental health. Street Connect Paisley is the most successful hub in Scotland as far as helping people with recovery.

Having spoken to the Pastor of Life Church, Chris Greenhalgh, we know that congregation are very excited at the thought of moving into their new home in due course. It’s reassuring to see this building is in good hands and we look for to seeing it restored.
