Carrick Centre Café Houston lunch review by Elise Hendry
Elise Hendry visits the Carrick Centre Café in Houston and walks away elated at what was on offer at this hotspot of gourmet food and drink
There’s something instantly inviting about the Carrick Centre Café. It is warm, welcoming, and charming, creating the perfect backdrop for a leisurely brunch or a coffee and something sweet on the side.
From the moment we stepped through the door, we were greeted with warm smiles from staff who set the tone for what would become a genuinely delightful brunch experience.
The menu is impressively varied and competitively priced, but what stood out to us most was not just the choice, but the evident care and detail put into every dish.

To drink, I opted for a cappuccino which was silky smooth and, of course, came with the vital dusting of chocolate on top! Meanwhile, my friend Zoe went for the ‘Cherry Poppins’ smoothie which was vibrant, refreshing and bursting with flavour.
For my meal, I chose the eggs benedict served on luxurious sourdough bread. I opted to add bacon which paired well with the hollandaise.

Linda, who was taking care of us, assured me that extra love and time was taken into making the poached eggs so flawlessly, which showed as they oozed golden yolk with the first cut.
Zoe’s choice was a real showstopper, that being the Reuben sourdough sandwich. The cross-section showed that it was packed generously with pastrami, Gouda, slaw, pickles, mustard, mayo and spicy sriracha.
That wasn’t all either, as it was served alongside a comforting bowl of homemade lentil soup, as part of the soup and sandwich deal for £9.95.

No brunch would be complete without a sweet treat, and Carrick Centre Café certainly delivered. It took us a while to choose what to have, considering every cake and bake looked outstandingly delicious.
Eventually, I decided to have a slice of carrot cake that was lightly spiced and smothered in a sweet cream cheese frosting. Zoe went for the nostalgic classic of a gypsy cream which was a crumbly buttercream delight.
