Fitness Inferno Paisley: we speak to owner David Kiyak

From overweight to overdrive, how one man’s transformation sparked the Fitness Inferno community movement

Fitness Inferno isn’t just a gym—it’s a second chance, a support system, and a sanctuary for anyone ready to take control of their health. Founded by David Kiyak, Fitness Inferno was born from personal struggle, not privilege. At 21, David weighed over 24 stone, deeply unhappy and caught in a spiral of poor habits and low self-esteem. But everything changed when he found the courage to rewrite his story.

Within a year, David lost nearly 10 stone. That spark of transformation quickly became a full-blown inferno – a passion for fitness that led him to become a qualified Personal Trainer. But more importantly, it ignited a purpose: to create a space where others could feel empowered to change their lives too.

Located in the heart of Paisley, the gym opened in March 2025 and has grown rapidly, attracting people of all fitness levels, especially beginners who may have felt intimidated or excluded elsewhere. The gym is known for its inclusive culture and warm, no-ego atmosphere – something David prioritised from day one.

“We aim to kill off the stigma,” David explains. “We aim to create a space that makes you want to walk through the door, no matter where you’re starting from.” Fitness Inferno offers a variety of beginners and ladies-only classes, including ladies-only boxing and self-defence classes, fostering a collaborative and supportive class environment.

With a team of passionate coaches, a packed class schedule, a stunning treatment room, and a fast-growing community, Fitness Inferno is more than just a place to work out. It’s a community, where encouragement outweighs judgment and consistency trumps perfection.

From bootcamps and boxing classes to personal training and open gym access, every service is built on one core belief: everyone deserves to feel confident in their skin.

As David puts it, “I’ve been there. I know how it feels to be stuck. But I also know what happens when you keep showing up.”

And at Fitness Inferno, you’ll never have to show up alone.

Fitness Inferno offers everyone three free passes to try the gym before signing up. Register for your free passes online or download the Fitness Inferno App from the app store.
