Anne Boyle Pierotti, owner at Girls Ink, Fulbar Street, Renfrew talks us through her beauty tips

How did you start?
I’ve been involved in the beauty industry for 15 years now and I believe it was fate along with a lot of passion and determination. I initially took on admin roles, but after becoming a mother, then later a single parent to two beautiful little girls, I struggled to maintain work hours alongside childcare and quality time with the kids. This was when I decided to go back and study beauty therapy. My study hours worked around my eldest’s school hours and my youngest attended the college nursery, enabling us to even enjoy our lunch breaks together. It worked perfectly along with weekend work to get the pennies in. 

What’s the best thing about working in the beauty industry?
The satisfaction of helping clients look and feel like the best versions of themselves. Over the years, my clients have become great friends and I look forward to their visit. 

What is permanent makeup?
Permanent makeup, also known as micropigmentation is a form of cosmetic tattooing. The procedure uses a machine to implant pigment through a needle into the top layers of your skin, improving and enhancing your features. It’s a perfect treatment for achieving an effortless makeup look every day saving time and boosting your confidence each morning.

What’s your favourite beauty essential?
SPF… I can’t rave about it enough. Besides SPF helping keep your permanent makeup fresh and enhancing its longevity, it’s also important for long term skin health, premature aging, fine lines and wrinkles. 

Lastly, what’s your top tip for relaxing at home?
Because the beauty industry doesn’t allow much room for meeting those all-important fitness goals, I love to go out into the fresh air and nature. It clears my head and releases all those happy endorphins.
