UK POS Magazine Stand made from 3mm Foamex are dangerous

This post is about the dangers of buying a UK POS Magazine Stand manufactured from 3mm Foamex.

We purchased five stands from UK POS in 2024, sadly only three remain because two have broken spectacularly when accidentally knocked over. Yet we have 10 magazine stands build out of 5mm Foamex – from a different supplier – that are in tact and up to five years old.

Given we did have fifteen magazine stands, and the only two that have broken were supplied by UK POS, we told them about the issue with 3mm Foamex. They accepted zero responsibility. We suggested the unit should have been tested before they were shipped out but this was overlooked as part of our complaint.

If you are buying UK POS Magazine Stand 3mm magazine stand, please think about the impact on your business when it is knocked over by accident and smashes into small, sharp pieces of material. It’s not UK POS that is impacted by this poor design, it’s your business.

When you go back to UK POS to make a complaint, they won’t be interested as we have found out first hand. Looking at reviews online, we aren’t the first and might not be the last.

We have spoken to another supplier who has had feedback from customers about the poor quality of 3mm stands manufactured by UK POS, and they stated they were ‘surprised’ they don’t make them out of 5mm Foamex.

Please see the photos of the broken stand below. You can see how sharp and dangerous these units can be when knocked over. Our 5mm Foamex units have been knocked over as well. We have even knocked them over and on occasions dropped them by mistake, but there’s no sign of any weakness on the 5mm units. They are so much stronger, sturdier and more importantly, much safer.

We’ll now need to replace or reinforce the 3mm stands supplied by UK POS.
